Every Saturday evening, from the beginning of November to the end of March, Blythwood Road Baptist Church provides a safe, warm place to stay overnight, two full meals (dinner and breakfast) and acceptance and compassion. Through this program, we provide not only food and shelter but a welcome and fellowship.

Out of The Cold is in need of the following:

- Winter jackets with hoodies
- Sweatpants/jeans
- Sweatshirts/sweaters

- Hoodies

- Scarves/hats

- New-Underwear/longjohns

- Wool/thermal socks

The above items can be dropped off at Blythwood Road Baptist Church Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4:30 pm or call ahead at 416-487-4571

Every Saturday evening, from the beginning of November to the end of March, Blythwood Road Baptist Church provide a safe, warm place to stay overnight, two full meals (dinner and breakfast) and acceptance and compassion. Through this program, we provide not only food and shelter but a welcome and fellowship.

The average number of dinner guests is 125 and those that stay overnight are 64.

We are currently in need of toothbrushes, toothpaste, deoderant and shaving cream. Also, warm socks, underwear, long johns, hats and warm gloves, hoodies and sweatpants.

Your donations can be dropped off at Blythwood Road Baptist Church, 80 Blythwood Road or you can call the office to arrange a time to drop off your items at 416-487-4571.

Our volunteers come from many churches, organizations and walks of life. We, at Blythwood, simply wouldn’t be able to run the program without the help of others. In addition, Dixon Hall, a social services agency, provides us with security and educational support. We are grateful for the help and involvement of all who have a heart for the poor and destitute of our city.

After a long month of school, the last Friday of every month will be a time for you to invite some of your friends and join other kids your age for a great time.

Our first event will be held on Friday, September 30th at the RINX entertainment place where we will be glow in the dark mini-golfing and either bowling or lazerquesting in the same night! (more details to follow)

Guest speakers from other Christian ministries working at home and abroad.
The Connection members present mission, literary and ministry programs.
Participate with women of other denominations in the area in the ecumenical
Women's World Day of prayer, March of each year.

Special Christmas projects:

Christmas gifts bags for single mothers for the Calvary Church Care Centre in east end Toronto.
Gift boxes with Christmas bake good and treats for Blythwood church shut-ins.

Our worship guest on next Sunday @ 10:30 a.m. is mezzo-soprano soloist Julie Clarke. A singer for many years, Julie stepped out from the chorus two years ago and left behind the corporate world to dedicate her life full time to the pursuit of operatic study. She was accepted to study 2 consecutive years at the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Italy—with Mr. Daniel Ferro from the Julliard School of Music and has coached with an international faculty.

Julie was our guest on Palm Sunday last spring and the congregation was moved by her singing. On November 28, accompanied by our Director of Music, Adolfo de Santis, Julie will present a worship concert, Praise God with Spiritual Songs. Plan to be here for a great Sunday!

Soprano Beatrice Carpino will be our guest soloist, Sunday, October 10 at 10:30 a.m. Beatrice is a graduate of both York University and The Royal Conservatory of Music. She has performed in a variety of opera roles including the title roles in Carmen and La Cenerentola. Special guest on September 26 we are delighted to welcome as our musical guest French horn player Julie Rochus who has just finished her first season with the National Academy Orchestra of Canada with Maestro Boris Brott. In 2008 and 2009, Julie performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, receiving a scholarship in 2009 for her leadership role within the orchestra. She also performed recently with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra and the Toronto Philharmonia. As a chamber musician, this spring Julie had the honour of performing in a masterclass for Leon Fleisher with her group "Trio Max". Her wind quintet, "Summer Winds" advanced to the finals of the Glenn Gould Chamber Music Competition (2010) and performed in a concert series at the Art Gallery of Ontario. In 2006, Julie participated in the Brass Masterclass program at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Julie completed her Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School in April 2010 and graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2008 with an Honours Bachelor of Music.

Volunteers, spouses and friends of the program, you’re invited to be part of a Coast to Coast Celebration of community (C2C) at 8pm on Friday, March 5 at Blythwood
Greg Paul and his band, Red Rain, will perform around readings taken from Greg’s latest book, “The Twenty Piece Shuffle.” The book tells heart-tugging stories from the streets of Toronto. Its main theme is that the rich and the poor need each other.
This joyful and inspiring event is our way of saying thank you for all the work of the volunteers at Blythwood’s Out of the Cold program.
C2C is a presentation in stories and songs that will get your head buzzing, your heart leaping and your feet tapping. Hear what happens when people who are rejected everywhere are embraced at the heart of Christian Community.
We, at Blythwood Out of the Cold are grateful to Sanctuary and the Maranatha Foundation for putting on and underwriting the cost of the event.
