A letter about Blythwood Road Baptist Church in the 1950's

I will always remember the sense of  awe I had, as a ten year old, seeing Blythwood the day before it officially opened.  My Dad, Colin Farmer, had taken photos as the church was built and my Mom, Mary Farmer, had been the secretary of the Building Committee.  It was quite an event when Hilmer Nordlund used his gavel on the outside of the door to begin the service and our Jewish mayor (and his wife), Nathan Phillips, took part in the opening of our new church.

Several years later our church was honoured by having its morning service televised.  I stayed home that day and took photos of our church and our minister on T.V. (year '57 or '58 approx).  Later I mounted the photos on bristol board and displayed them - a school science project? at John Fisher School.
